Standard 7: Common Planning / Collaboration
Sara Maitland and Samantha Harrison worked together during Academy pre-planning, primarily via e-mail and phone conversations. Throughout the school year we conversed via e-mail and met during lunch as required.

ERAU On Campus Dual Enrollment Courses Offered

  • Working with VPK students enrolled at Atlantic High School
  • Reaching out to Middle School Students at the High School Showcase
  • Middle school students shadowed current high school academy students for the day from January-April 2017
Aerospace Technology 1 students helped the VPK students make paper airplanes. All students worked together to design, decorate, and made modifications to get the paper airplanes fly further.

Standard 10: Work-based Learning
Dr. John Robbins brought in the Scan Eagle (pictured) and discussed different uses of Unmanned Aircraft Systems to the Aerospace Technology 2 class.

Standard 11: Capstone Project
Freshman- Students will use the knowledge they have gained about the aviation industry, aerodynamics, flight characteristics, etc to apply to an accident scene. Students will evaluate their opinion of the accident based on witnesses, pictures, background information provided (based upon actual events). Students will write their own "Probable Cause" document, template aquired from the NTSB website.
Sophomores- Are entering the GAMA flight design competition. Working in small groups students will design their own aircraft based upon all previous lessons within given parameters. Students will create a presentation to "sell" their aircraft to top management "teacher".
Standard 12: Marketing

An Aerospace Technology 1 student teaching a young lady at Port Orange Family days how to fly a lap in the pattern.
